Stormy Seas Inspire Gill Knight’s First Solo Exhibition

Local artist, Gill Knight, regularly walks the coastlines and countryside of her native Scotland later returning to her South Queensferry studio to capture the experiences, feelings, and memories of the outdoors on canvas.

A former Executive Chef, Gill Knight is a self-taught artist and has built an impressive body of work that will be exhibited in her first solo show titled, ‘The Light Surrounding Us’, on display at Colinton Arts from Friday the 4th of February to Saturday the 5th March 2022.

Colinton Arts, in Edinburgh’s Colinton Village, is a contemporary art gallery showing work by established artists and giving early-career artists, like Gill, the chance to exhibit in a professional space and develop their practice. The gallery is delighted to partner with an exciting new talent whose work will appeal to their customers who have a keen interest in Scottish scenery, especially when given such a fresh perspective.

Gill’s semi-abstract style and unique vision of land and sea perfectly capture the passion of the elements. The immersive, emotional, and energetic seascapes and landscapes use a reduced palette to convey a strong sense of atmosphere to the viewer. Gill comments, “I draw on my abiding love of light and shade to immerse the viewer in a world of possibilities and occasional peril.”

The artworks in the exhibition are available to view and purchase through the Colinton Arts website www.colinton-arts.co.uk.
