EDINBURGH, UK β The countryβs premier volunteer-run board game event, opens its doors this coming Friday, 4 September, running through to Sunday, 6 September at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston.
Doors open at 12:00 PM on Friday - perfectly timed for families looking to start the weekend early as most schools across Edinburgh and the Lothians finish at Friday lunchtime. Adding to the family appeal, under 16s get in free with a paying adult ticket.
The three-day festival will bring together thousands of fans of board games, roleplaying games, miniatures, and card games. The event welcomed over 4,250 visitors in 2025, growing 9% on 2024, and is entirely run by volunteers.

Dedicated Family Zone: Created with play experts HABA and Imagination Gaming, using board games to build logic, problem-solving, reading, and maths skills in a fun way.
120+ Exhibitors: Filling the Royal Highland Centre with international publishers, artists, and independent game creators.
UKβs Largest D&D Schedule and more: Featuring the UK's largest schedule of Dungeons & Dragons events, as part of a RPG schedule hosting almost 250 sessions. Plus over 2,000 seats of open gaming space and a massive board game library.
While our event at the Royal Highland Centre has grown to meet high demand, our main goal is still to create a welcoming, accessible, and friendly space for everyone," says Dave Wright, Lead Organiser. "This year we have expanded our offering to attract even more families and teachers, showing how board games can be a great alternative to phone and computer screens.
Tabletop Scotland has also named the Scottish Huntingtonβs Association (www.hdscotland.org) as its 2026 charity partner. The charity will have a team at the event all three days to talk about what they do, and help them to raise money. Since 2018, Tabletop Scotland has raised over Β£36,000 for Scottish charities.
