Age Scotland Forms New Partnership to Improve Security for Older People in their Homes

A company that has transformed the delivery of social care with its innovative key safes is marking a milestone year for the business by launching a new partnership with Age Scotland, the Scottish charity for older people.

The Key Safe Company is partnering with Age Scotland to reinforce its commitment to providing safe and secure access solutions for carers, health workers and other service providers helping those in need of support.

This is part of a series of initiatives that is being coordinated as The Key Safe Company celebrates 30 years of providing secure access to vulnerable people across the UK.

Marcus Taylor, Managing Director at The Key Safe Company, said: “Age Scotland deliver essential support to some of the most vulnerable in society. It is an honour to mark our 30th anniversary in business by supporting Age Scotland with their vital work helping to ensure that older people receive the care and support they need safely.”

Recognising the positive impact of this partnership, Age Scotland now recommends The Key Safe Company’s products to its extensive networks across Scotland.

In addition, proceeds from the sale of The Key Safe Company’s police preferred key safe range will directly benefit Age Scotland, helping the charity deliver vital services to older people across the country.

“This partnership highlights how secure, reliable access solutions can make a real difference in the lives of older people,” Marcus added. “We are proud that our products are not only recommended by Age Scotland but also contribute to supporting vital services for older communities in Scotland.”

“This partnership also enables us to build on our great relationship with the wider Age UK network and its many local Age UKs throughout the United Kingdom. Helping people in later life throughout the UK is a common goal of ours, which is why this partnership feels like such a natural next step.”

Katherine Crawford, chief executive of Age Scotland, said: “We know that security at home is vitally important to older people and those who care for them. For many older people who struggle with mobility or feel vulnerable the installation of a robust and effective key safe, accessible only by trusted family, friends and carers, can bring some peace of mind. Having a key safe removes the need for handing over multiple keys or using unsafe practices such as hiding a key under the mat.

“We are happy to partner with The Key Safe Company who have three decades of experience in keeping older people safe and secure in their own homes. Together we can help older people feel supported and protected while still living independently. We look forward to sharing the benefits of key safes with our network across Scotland, to improve security and safety for older people.”

Launched by entrepreneur David Ogden in 1996, The Key Safe Company introduced the application of key safes to the care industry; helping to deliver more than four million hours of domiciliary care each week for vulnerable people in the UK.

The Worcester-based company’s class-leading products have helped to save lives, by providing carers and emergency workers with quick and easy access to vulnerable people’s homes, and have enabled local authorities across the UK to save millions of pounds in operational efficiencies.

To commemorate its 30th anniversary, The Key Safe Company has also pledged to support Race Against Dementia with a series of fundraising activities. The charity raises money to fund breakthrough and innovative dementia research and was launched in 2016 by motor racing icon Sir Jackie Stewart after his wife, Helen, was diagnosed with dementia.

The business is also unveiling a special anniversary logo designed by an arts student in a competition arranged with the University of Worcester.
